Testimonials

What our customers say

"My pond has never looked so good"

My new pond is seriously good. It’s transformed our garden and requires virtually no maintenance. I love it.

Philip from Chepstow

Our pond is clear and the fountain is merrily bubbling away

We can see our fish for the first time in years and we even had frog’s spawn in the pond this spring. Tom’s pond cleaning service is well worth it and very good value for the amount of work he does.

I’m hard at work!

I try not to take calls when working in someone’s pond. It’s risky for my phone, distracts me from the job at hand and effective note taking is near impossible.

In the first instance, it is best if you can email me details of your enquiry, including the type of work you want to be done and when you would like the job completed.

I will arrange a suitable time for a callback, or site visit when you’ll have my undivided attention.

Thank you for your consideration.

A history of ponds

in The Wye Valley and Forest of Dean

The Wye Valley and Forest of Dean have a rich history of ponds and managed bodies of water for both agricultural and recreational use. With the infamy of the Wye Valley as a great salmon fishing river, it’s not really surprising that people have been enchanted by streams, ponds and lakes for centuries and have made great efforts to bring a little of what they love into their gardens.

From the Abbots Pond of Tintern Abbey, which was little more than an informal pool created above a weir in the river, to the exquisitely formal Dutch Style water gardens of Westbury Court, managed fish ponds have had a place in the regions history for generations. Similarly the recreational use of water for fishing is not exclusive to the Wye, Cannop Ponds and Soudley Ponds are both firm favourites on the local angling scene.

The Wye Valley is a most amazing natural water feature, so it’s no surprise that people have sought to incorporate it into their landscapes as well as to utilise its resources. The Devil’s Pulpit and Yat Rock are two great examples of where natural viewing platforms have been exploited for recreational pleasure and The Forest is littered with examples of waterfalls and springs like Cleddon Falls near Llandogo

Garden landscapers have been taking inspiration from Mother Nature for generations. Dewstow Gardens & Grottoes, with its many ponds and rills, is a great example of how designers try to recreate nature within a more formal setting, and we can see springs and fountains used recreationally throughout the region in parks like Lydney and more functionally as in the Grade II listed drinking fountain at St Arvans in Monmouthshire.
